Marissa's Transformation
Marissa's Goal
This is not my first rodeo! I have done transformation many times, but each time my goals have evolved. This transformation is part of my preparation for the Paleo f(x) conference in Austin, Texas. In addition to becoming a lean mean monster, I truly hope to gain mental clarity. I am working on stress management and lowering my anxiety which is all self-induced. My body is somewhat athletic looking, but not my ideal body.
So...here's to reaching new heights in all aspects of my life. I know it won't be comfortable, but if it was easy everyone would be strong, scary and calm! I'm so excited for my results and can't wait be somewhat stress-free and scare everyone with my shoulder veins and monster physique!
Week 7 went really well!
I feel like I am progressing - my body looks different and I feel calmer. I am beginning to get a handle on my stress levels by identify patterns that help me work my way out of stressful moments.
My workouts fit my lifesyle perfectly and I pan on continuing with them after Transformation has ended.
It's time to crank it up for the last week - here's to looking like a big scary monster!
I loved week 6!
I feel like things are really coming together. My body is definitely on its way to monster status and I am getting in my own groove with stress management. I am looking forward to the next 2 weeks and really turning it up to maximize my experience.
I am getting so excited for Austin and the PaleoFX12 event. I am going to have clarity, look strong, and be surrounded by folks who inspire me to want to be better. What more could a girl ask for?
It's time to crush week 7!!!

So...5 weeks have come and gone and I would love to say that my mind-set has drastically improved, but I feel like I still have a ways to go. With that said, I also realize that it is a process and without practice and patience nothing is achievable.
On the up side, I have really found my stride in my workouts and my nutrition - it is getting easy to just handle my business without whining or crying! I have concluded that if you are not saying the "F" word a few times during your workouts - you're not working hard enough!
On to the next week - here we go!

Week 4 gave me perspective for the rest of the transformation.
I have decided to regulate my red meat consumption (2 days a week instead of 7 days a week) as well as eliminating grass-fed butter my primal fuel shakes.
I have created a mantra to go along with my mediation to help me remain calm and balanced (a goal I am eagerly trying to obtain).
My goals are just around the corner and now its time to really step it up and make sure I have no regrets once it is over!

Week 3 was ok.
I hit a wall early in the week that left me fatigued. I missed my Tuesday spin class but made it up by doing a 10 mile ride at the studio - my goal was to make it under 24 minutes but I finished in 24:43. My Wednesday lift went well although I didn't feel as strong as last week. Thursday spin went well and my nutrition was good overall. I have decided to give up red meat for week 5 and commit to only chicken and eggs to see what happens.
My stress level was rather high this week and caused me to meltdown on Sunday - an event I could without in the future. I get really overwhelmed and then crack. It is frustrating to take steps backward instead of forward on the road to lowering my stress and anxiety.
However, I believe in order to move forward sometimes you need to fall back, a lesson I am tired of learning but it won't stop me from reaching my goal of serenity.
My focus this week is to remain positive, to keep up on my meditation while getting adequate sleep, and I would like to give myself a break - maybe a pat on the back.
Week 4 is filled with opportunity for me to grow and transform in all aspects. Here is to a great week ahead - can't wait!

Week 2 was better than week 1. I had a rough day on Thursday - I forgot my spin clothes, forgot my house keys, stepped in puke outside Starbucks, and was 5 minutes late to every place I needed to be. I tried my best to remain calm, but I had a freak out moment (or 5 moments).
Despite my Thursday, I have been crushing it in and out of the gym. Nutrition is great, workouts are going really well. This week I am starting to feel fit!
I am loving my spin classes with Ross - I don't love him when I am doing it but I love him when it is over! My lifts with Rog are also progressing and I am slowly turning into a big scary monster. Sometimes I see my shoulder vein bulging when I work really hard - total inspiration!
I am in it and on my way! Nothing is going to stop me - I am on FIRE - watch out Week 3 I am coming for you!

Week one started out awesome - I was well rested, focused and determine to set the world on fire! However, by Wednesday night I was the biggest cranky baby you have ever seen. My body was fatigued and I was feeling really drained from work and life. Because I wasn't on point physically and my weekly routine went awry, my two old friends stress and anxiety were happy to step in and make up for lost time. Fortunately, it only took me one day to recover and I was also lucky enough to have some time Friday morning to rest and relax - it felt amazing!
Besides my day and a half freak out moment - I have been doing great! My food is on lock and I am also getting in all my workouts. I feel like I have not pushed myself this hard physically in a long time and it feels awesome.
Because of my back issues (I have degenerative disc disease), I have to be careful about the exercises I put in my plan. I love to be dynamic - I love plyo's, boot camp style workouts and anything that challenges the whole body to an intense degree (this is probably why I am suffering from degenerative disc disease). Finding new ways to be has not been easy but working with Rog has been great and I think we have found a way to reach my goals without aggravating my back (woohoo)!
I did not crush this week with weight loss and tons of inches, but I have been perfect with nutrition, haven't missed a workout or a shout down routine. I'm still perfecting my shut down routine, but I know it is helping me calm down at night. I am thinking of implementing a wake up routine as well that will set the tone for the day to come. On to week 2 - bigger and better things ahead fo' sho'!!!

Marissa's Recap
Prep week was really week one for me. My nutrition was on lock, I got in all my workouts and I started taking steps to manage my stress by implementing a shut down routine before bed. So far so great minus one temper tantrum I had over wanting dark chocolate (shockingly enough Roger didn't give in).
My body is so happy to be back to "regular" after the holiday break. Crap food is so fun going in but that is it - it really did a number on me this holiday and I'm so happy to be back on the program and striving for that ideal body and ideal mindset! Bring it on week one!!!
